Ampicillin is an antibiotic related to penicillin used to treat and prevent bacterial infections. As with similar penicillin drugs, Ampicillin kills bacteria by inhibiting production of the bacteria cell wall. Some of the infections treated with Ampicillin include wounds, skin infections, tooth abscesses and bladder infections.
